Thread: steel spare

    steel spare

    just upgraded my alloys from 16" to 17" on a 05 plate astra sxi. the origonal steel spare is 15"
    will that still be ok to use or will i need to up that as well? anybody help please

    to stay legal yes you would have to get a 17inch spare...if you were to get cought with the 15inch spare on you get fined and maybe some points to...

    astra we did have 16" 5stud turbo rims on the front and 14" gte rims on the rear for abbout two weeks...ok yeah thats two of each..

    Its Not Illegal At All, You Need To Have The Same Size Of Wheels On The Same Axle For The Mot But Most Cars These Days Come With 15" Spacesavers Even Cars With Rims At 16 And 17"

    cheers guys, i guess the next question is will it be ok to drive using the 15" spare if i do get a puncture?

    I'd say yes for the short term, but I wouldn't get tearing up and down the M1 for weeks on end.

    so long as the entire wheel is about the same size you should be ok
    so make sure theres a balloon of a tyre on the spare
