Fao ppl who've fitted trooper vent to nova

Hi, ive ordered an izuzu trooper bonnet vent to fit on a std nova bonnet (to feed my throttle bodied c16xe that i plan to fit)

Just wondering what you did to fit (did you just cut the outer skin, leaving all the strengthening bars in place?? Or did you cut the lot, and weld a "rim" round the hole onto the strengtheners? Vent hasnt arrived, so unsure what to do at the minute.

When i done mine, although i wasn't feeding any TB's, i just drilled 4 25mm holes at the back to let any water or air through. The last thing you want is a wind trap and the vent coming off!

if it don't scrub...... it ain't low enough!!!

Always loved that car, remember looking at pics of it like 5 yrs ago??

The vent arrived today, im gonna mount it further forward than ures (120mm from the back edge), meaning the rear mounting bolts are on the crossmember off the bonnet that sits just infront of the bulkhead firewall. Then im gonna cut out the sections in-between the strengtheners (in theory meaning the bonnet is pretty much as strong as a std one.)

With your vent, did it go directly onto the bonnet? or is there some sort of rubber gasket that goes in between?? Mine only came with 5 m8 bolts, and a rubber sleve thing which i presume goes fron the vent to a top mounted inter-cooler on the trooper (i wont be using this)

you could mock up some sort of box to fit to that rubber sleave. so the TBs only pull air from the vent ? nice cold air all the time?

yeah i had thought of that (stainless/alloy box with a large aftermarket pannel filter in the top that sits directly below the vent)

But as i dont currently have the engine or bodies, cant really design it (but the vent cut out will be in the right area)

Yep that was about 7 years ago when i had that!

Mine did have a rubber gasket that was around the edge of the vent, it just sandwiched between the vent and the bonnet. I think i only used 5 bolts aswell.

ahh, well mine has no gasket im afraid. Will prob but a bead of sikaflex round it, bolt it down, and wipe away excess.

Drilled the holes for the mounting bolts, will cut the openings 2moro hopefully

decided im gonna paint the area on the bonnet skin that the vent sits on black, fit the vent, then get the whole lot painted in one go, Easier than trying to fit the vent to the bonnet without scratching it as its well awkward.

Personally i would get them fitted up before so it all fits nicely, then disasemble it, get it painted seperately then fit it back together afterwards with a small bead of bonder. If you paint it together you risk it getting the gap filled with paint or even worse not getting painted in the gap at all.

    Just my opinion.

aye, think i will contact an izuzu dealer and get the proper gasket, make life much easier, trial fit, then get painted and fit back together. No point taking shortcuts, was just pissed off last night lol
