    Sill damage

    Hi,

Ive got a small dent/crease in one of my sills (Corsa) its about the size of a 1p piece and is starting to rust.

How much would I looking at for a repair for this job realistically?

    Thanks

    Andrew

you could do it yourself clean the rust up then stick a bit of filler over it smoth it off and spray it up. dent's in the sill won't fail an mot so there is no reason why you can't just fill it in

Sounds like a good idea, ill sand it down, put some Comma Rust Stop on it, filler then primer and then paint...cool!

    Thanks for the help.

Just make sure that you get all of the rust out, otherwise it'll just come back.

You could always replace the whole sill, (thats one of many panels replaced/replacing), thats what im doing, but mines alittle worse.

Similar sill damage though, looks like the jack has fallen at time point.

drill a hole pull the dent out with a slid hammer

then get rid of every last bit of rud with a grinder or wire bruch on the old drill

then fill and paint it then wack in some side skirt off a gte on it theres plenty about as looking at the pick they will cover the spot up. son neat bother spraying it can use a bush and tin of hammer right

that will be the cheapest way with out adding the skirts you need to pay out for a spray job on it

looks like some ones jaked it there

my gte was the same when i took the skirts off
    when i strarted the respray

bet it was a woman with flat befor i had it.

i understand you have a corsa not a cav, but heres an example.

Theres a local Body panel supplier near me thats quite cheap.

Replacment arches for a Cav £10. inc vat

    Front Wings £20. inc vat.

    Sills £18 inc vat.

At a guess, going on previous cars I have owned your proberly looking at around £60-£100 fitting, and then £40-£70 to have them sprayed.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding

GSI sideskirts may be an idea...

Do you think its worth getting the whole sill replaced? or just repaired/welded?

    Thanks for the input,

    Andrew

Looking at you pic of your sill, you would be better off repairing it, as its not too bad at all mate.

Mine on the otherhand is a little worse to say the least

I hate careless car owners, especially ones who have f00ked the sill!

Ah well, that was one of the reasons I got the price knocked down.

it wont cost bugger all to replace it for the sill and welding
    just for the paint

i would repare it my slf m8 it aint bad at all the gsi skirts mite hide it when fixed

i did not find some prat had done my astra till i took the skirts off
