I wouldn't even consider it, the sunroof section has a curvature on it whereas the pespex won't.

It won't seal properly as a result and will piss water into the car unless you rivet it in around the perimeter?

Im going to try this in my carlton when I get the chance. If it fails it fails and Ill rivet over it with an old bit of bonnet

I presume you mean total removal of the sunroof mech?

Its obviously to save weight, so have you thought about fibreglass?

Take your sunroof out, invert it and apply a very thin layer of vaseline (don't be getting any ideas) then you have a ready made mould! Just lay a couple of layers on with the resin, in theory it wouldn't stick to the glass too well but the vaseline would make doubly sure!

Then you have it perfectly shaped, can colour code it and if you wish to bond it in place it looks better aesthetically!

Perspex becomes brittle when subject to UV light, you'll end up with it cracking after a time. Best stuff is polycarbonate, often branded as Lexan, this stuff is almost indestructible.
