    Any rub strips gen?

im away to stick a set of GTE skirts to my astra but unfortunately the rub strips are in the way and are going to get the heave ho. Ive heard a few bad stories from fenix and a few others about how paint can crack, be faded etc. If they are going to be a pain i might not even bother fitting the skirts. Whats everyones experiences with taking them off?

    Depends on many things.

Have any panels been resprayed before? -Good job/bad job?

1.Chances are they slapped the rub strips on straight away before the paint had fully dried and thefore you're likely to get the top layer off paint coming off with the glue.

    2. They may have only sprayed upto/down to the rub strip, and hence different shades of paint.

    3. The laquer may come off

    4. There may be slight rust behind them.

    ...or you may be lucky!

    I had a case of 1, 3 and 4....on a car that ain't even 5 years old!

I was lucky...just used warm water and an old phone card...came off easily and paint matched...and its red!

there is a slight bit of overspray i noticed on passengers side window but i cant tell how much was actually sprayed. Seems like they could be a bit of hassle and chances of them being perfect are slim. Dont really want to have to repsray the car as its not really in my long term plans and dont want to have to spend much on it. Im confused as to what to do now

After my experience all i'll say is make sure you take rubstrips off in one piece, don't stretch them and don't throw them away until your satisfied your car looks ok without them.

Guess i just had some bad luck

You want to take them off with a hot air gun/hairdryer.

Heat them first then pull them slowly off
