    Wheels and Vaux Offset

Generally, which makes tend to cater for Vauxhall with Et45-49 offsets?

    For the Cav Tom.

I have MOT in a few weeks and most tyres are pretty poor, so instead of just renewing tyres, may make financial sense to get wheel/tyre deal (I currently have standard 15" gsi alloys).

I also have a set of fully adjustable Spax suspension which will be fitted fairly soon, so if getting 17s suppose I need at least a 45 offset.

I was having an interesting chat with the guys at SCA Race and Rally Centre in Norwich today and they were saying that if your keeping the same size rim as standard the you want the same offset. But when you go wider you need to move the offset out accordingly so it doesn't rub on the inside arch. Which does make a lot of sense. They were saying that the myth of HAVING to stick to et49 is nonsense and sometimes causing more problems.

I was enquiring about 15s for the Nova and he was saying if I was going for 6.5" I'd need about et42 to keep the right scrub angles??

I then started thinking, I've heard a lot of people who have fitted the allesios to Nova having to "adjust" there inner arch. Could this be because they're are et49??

I've also noticed that with standrad vaux alloys the larger they go the further away the offset moves from et49.

So maybe there is alot of truth in what these chaps were saying then?

on novas alessio's normally go on with no scrubbage- but alessio's came in 2 widths, 195 and 205 both being et49.
the 195 alessio's dont rub on novas but the 205 would catch the front shockers because they are 2 close in for that particular width. 195 are best for nova's otherwise pointyless arch work is need for 205's.
therefore i would defibnately not go for et42 wheels on 195's on ur nova cause they will rub! go for et45 and if u can go for et49.
    another two considerations are:
*mk 1 nova or mk2 (mk1's lips are deeper)
*all nova rear arches are unique!! some are wider than others!!
anyway if they do rub u can always just tap up the lip a little with a hammer!!!

as for ur cav u have huge arces and u have a lot more space to play with, but id imagine et40-45 with a 205 width should be about right
i am a nova boy all the way so i might be wrong!
    went off on one there!lmao

Fit 18s on the cav mate u know you wanna

I'm not too concerned about grinding on the outside arch as they're trimmed back anyway. i'm more concerned about the inside because I don't want to and WILL NOT start hammering my inner arches over some bloody wheels!

    Nuff sed.

Nah - 18s are too expensive and may compromise handling - may just go for 16s, not sure yet.
