After 2 months of agro, today was the day for my Cav turbo wheels to be put on the car.
Just to re-cap:-
Firstly, when I got them from Eddie (VPSC) they were a little scuffed, so I had them sand blasted and powder coated in silver. What I didn't know was, that silver ain't silver in the world of powder coating. Its more of a light metallic grey!
With this colour slowly growing on me, I decided to inspect the wheels closer. To my horror, one of the wheels still had the weights on them! I then find out that the wheel could not be re-blasted because of the thickness of the coating. (pressure needed would damage the alloy).
Thankfully, Eddie still had one left. A week or so later I get this one back, but, due to a different batch of laquer this one was slightly darker than the rest.
I then made up the new modified centre caps, which came out looking really smart.
And today was the big day. The wheels were finally put on the car and did they look good...
... er nope. On the car that colour lost the metallic look. In fact they looked like shiney primer wheels on a Satin red car. They looked terrible.
Luckily I found out that our body shop have just decided to start spraying alloys as well as cars, so I'm off to see him on the way to work tomorrow.
What colour should I have them sprayed this time? Was thinking about a graphite look but not sure!
