    gearknob troubles (corsa b)

just bought an aftermarket gear knob and handbrake lever for my corsa b, think im right in saying i'll have to hacksaw the old handbrake lever off but not too sure on the gearknob, i pulled off the old gear know but just the rubber part, im no left with a yellow plastic cover, do i hacksaw this off too? the gearknob just slides on with grub screws. thanks for anyhelp.

i thought on vaux gearknobs you have to drill down the middle after you have removed the top cap?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not quite sure

not sure tbh. looks as if the yellow part needs to come off but not too sure if this will bugger the lift up reverse spring etc. the knob is meant for a vauxhall though although it is aftermarket
