    bonnet vent help req'd

i am going to fit either an evo or an f50 vent/scoop to my cav. It will be cut in and functional so i want to know how to get this stuck onto my bonnet?

What adhesives, if any, do bodyshops use?

Also any advice for doing this?
I have had quotes for 130 quid to do this.
I can get a bonnet for 25 quid so even if i fek up 5 times it still works out cheaper doing it this way.

Any help is really appreciated ladz n lasses.

the problem is when its bonded and flushed out to the level of the bonnet it can crack - mines costin 80 to do - then i have a big paint job bill stuck on that along with vat - he guarantees it wont crack so we will see - from what he said its bonded on, screwed into place till it sets, some of it is trimmed if its uneven, then its fibreglassed, filled and smoothed, then vented and finally painted - final price with a grille resprayed and whole bonnet both sides is 300 quid inc the dreaded

    vents

i'm fitting an evo vent at the moment to my car. I measured it up, the bonnet too, so i got it centered, then marked the vent holes on the bonnet. I cut these out with an angle grinder then sealed and fibreglassed the edges of the hole to weatherproof it. Next i fitted the mesh with fibreglass and epoxy resin over the holes. I then fitted the vent panel (fibreglass jobbie from CCM) with epoxy resign and polurethane sealant (Halfords) and screwed it down till it set. then i blended in the edges with fibreglass/filler mixture (loads of it) and attacked with a sander and wet & dry paper to finish. I then masked the vent holes/mesh and primed the entire bonnet myself and smoothed off with wet & dry. Even in primer it looks fecking wicked and will look proper nice after the respray.

    Prices:

    Mesh: £20 - Halfords
    Evo Vent: £45 - CCM
    Epoxy Resin: £5 - Halfords
    Filler/Fibreglass: £20 (ish. I used 4 tins) - Halfords/Car Body Repair shop
    Sealant: £7 - Halfords
    Sand Paper: £10 - Halfords
    Detail Sander: £15 - Wickes
    Primer: £10 - Halfords

    TOTAL: £132.00

This does involve a loy of work if DIYing but i think the result is better as get a real sense of accomplishment from it even though it WILL look worse before it looks better so be warned.

BEST BIT: Hacking away at my bonnet with an angle grinder - neighbours thought i'd gone mental.

WORST BIT: Hours and hours of sanding, filling and filling and sanding and preperation for the respray.

Verdict: Hard, time consuming work but well worth it, give it a go. As you say if u **** it up, start again.

Hope some of this helps m8.
