d Boy Bonnet on astra mk 2
Hi Guy's,
Just a few questions about the above.
Do you use the standard lights or are they different?
Do the lights need to be repositioned?
How is the bonnet welded, do you just follow the existing lines of it?
cheers,
ian.

The thread is supposed to say- BAD BOY BONNET.

you planning on doing it? most decent bodyshop places can do this, dont think anything needs repositioning. i asked in passing a while back and was quoted 150 quid for the lot

Hi Rob,
No it's not for me,it's for a mate of mine.
I like my twin headlights to much!
Anyway, what happened to you on Saturday,I went to Elvington to see you guy's and you were not there,I was very dissappointed as I wanted to hear those throttle body's going round the track.
There were 2 928's an Evo 6,a corvette,a TVR,a williams cleo, and a cat 7.
It was a gorgeous day,no rain.
Tasha is very nice toooooo!
Did you sort out your top hose?
cheers,
ian.

sorry mate, couldnt go, my caliper is stuck and its not very stable under braking lmao new stuff on its way tho
the top hose is easy, go to halfords and get a reinforced bendy water hose for 8 quid or summat - works a treat. cant remember the dimensions cos i just grabbed the biggest, but you dont need it that big. take a thermostat housing in with you.
found a lot that needs doing to the engine before it hits the track, but i will give you a shout when i do make it round elvington

BadBoy Bonnet
With regard to the bonnet, i did mine myself using some steel mesh from B&Q and fibreglass/filler. Just cut the mesh to size with an overlap on the rear edge to fix under the bonnet, then slap on a load of fibreglass to attach it to the bonnet or use a suitable adhesive like silkaflex or epoxy resin, then finally apply a layer of filler to the topside and attack it vigourously with a sander until the desired shape is achieved. Smooth off the edges, wet & dry paper it, prime and paint.
N.B. dont use to much fibreglass/filler on the rear as it obstructs the headlights and stops the bonnet from closing properly. I say this as I didn't realise at first until i'd spent the day doing all the work and then couldn't close the bonnet so be warned!!!!!
You don't need to reposition the headlights (standard) but you might need to bring the bonnet forward slightly if you go about doing it as i did, to allow a little extra clearance above the lights.
