    Exclamation Radiator paint

Has anybody used 'Plasti-kote Radiator' paint? The stuff you buy from B&Q etc that your spary on radiators in your home.

Im asking coz I have seen a chrome version which on the cap is proper chrome look. And coz its quite heat resistant I had a bit of a brainwave, thought I could use it for the car.

Can anyone say whether or not it actually comes out like chrome once sprayed on? Wanted to see if anyone knew before I bought one.

    Thanx ;)

Nor have I which is why I was hoping someone had already used it.

Thing is the cap on the spray can is chrome, usually the cap gives an indication of the finish. They also have a brass/gold chrome colour too which is tempting lmao.

May have to just give it a go

I didn't think the gold/chrome ones were radiator paint but there you go. Yes I have seen people on here use the chrome one and the result was pretty good. It's not full on bright chrome finish, more a slightly duller/milky finish. A bit like polished old stainless steel or aluminium.

Unless you are painting an exhaust manifold heat is not an issue when painting anywhere on a car, the oil and petrol vapours and leaks and cleaning solvents used are.

I intend to use it on the rocker cover and other areas in the engine. The paint is not heat resistant up to manifold temperatures so I wouldnt bother trying it on that.

If its close to what it shows on the cap then im happy.

Think best way is to buy a can and try it out.

Just make sure you sort out any oil etc leaks and prime the parts properly (need an etching primer - Plastikote's Zinc Rich Primer is suitable if you are stuck) and it should come out reasonably well.
