    Cavalier offset?

I know the best offset for them is ET49, but what is the smallest you can get away with...
Got my eyes on a set of ET38's...

And i only want to fit a set of SRi springs to it, so lowering is not a problem...

I had ET35 on mine (not lowered) and one wheel (rear) just clipped the arch over bumps

Does anyone know if 38's will be fine, or how about a set of wheels spacers?

et40 - et49 is all good but DONT use 215x45x17's lmao use 205x40x17's or 215x40x17's if ur offset is et40 and up

I found a thing that says, between an ET of 38, to 44 is only about a quarter of an inch difference, so if i do get 38's and fit a set of spacers, it will bring closer to what it should be, yes?

And i will be using 205/40's...

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: 9000 problem

Right et49 is the idead offset and et38 just clips the arches - So by using spacers you would be bringing the wheel out FURTHER therfore asking for trouble as your wheels will sit out the arch.

Ideally if you have et38 wheels you would want the wheel machined BACK to et 49 to give yourself some room in the arch.

Or have i just lost the plot ????

My Dad has ET38 Fox Rims on 205/50R15's on his 16v SRi. Its only sracped once and that was with 4 in the back going over very high road humps.

As for normal driving and normal amount of passengers no problems with em

Nope. I want to do that to mine. But I don't know anyone who, would machine the hubs to the offset I need.

cant you only get them machined within 5mm of the original offset? or something like that so you could only get it to ET 43?

That would be better than ET38. Just need to find someone to do it.

Ah, just spent the last half hour working it all out! Must be the early morning!

    Right, so...
If you take material away from the hub face, you are increasing the amount of "wheel backspace", therefore, pushing the offset up?
Which in turn, is bringing the wheels further towards the centre of the car...
And that means wheel spacers would make it even worse!

    That make any sense?

So, ET38's will be OK unless the car is full of fat bar stewards?
