hi mate this might not help you i no its not a gsi bumper but its a standard mk 2 nova bumper. I asked how i could widemouth this a few people said 2 me 2 just mark up how wide you want 2 take the bumper down. Once marked out take a hacksaw 2 the lines wich will leave you with a widend bumper (look at pics added) i still havent finished my mk 2 bumper ive still got 2 finish off the bottom line 2 make it straight and finish off smoothing out the lines in the bumper and finking of a way i can make a lip at the botton of the hole ive cut lol

this might not of helped you in anyway but i hope it gives you an idea of how its done

I 'big mouthed' my Nova GSi bumper i'll put some pics up tomorrow, its not difficult.
I marked it all out then cut about 10mm or so inside the line with a Hacksaw & Grinder then used a new Stanley knife to carefully cut along the line, mine was a brand new bumper from Vauxhall & it was staying unpainted so didn't have any way of covering up any mistakes !!
Take your time, double check everything before you start to cut & you should be ok.

Might be a bit late but heres some pics of mine. just got round to finishing it off !!

Once all chopped out i used some double sided 'sticky clips' to hold the mesh down.

    Job done !!

Looks mint that mate, sticky tape wont hold that mesh for long tho! specially when the water gets to it....

my tip is fibreglass some brackets where you have the sticky pads and zip tie the mesh onto them

Theres a couple of screws in there as well, the mesh is kinda wedged in anyway so it ain't gonna go anywhere - even if the clips come off !
Water !!! ain't planning on driving it in the wet ! lmao

i think it would look better, if u got some fibreglass and biult up the sides of the mouth, giving it some depth. instead of just cutting and sticking. would look more original.

    3choises,
    1. dont buy it,get a gsi bumper do it to that,
    b. buy it,fiber glass metal or plastic side walls in to it,fiberglass and filler till smooth, wouldnt be to hard if you can work with your hands,
    3. buy it and dont worry

Ye, fill the gaps with something solid(i.e. bit of plastic)
    Then filler it smooth.

I think the idea is to use the least amount of filler possible. Because big lumps of filler tend to crack etc.

    yeah kinda,
you can use anything cut to shape to make a side wall,
then smooth it in with fiberglass and filler,
how my front was done, and how i did my plate rescess

well obviously i said cut the cross member, not remove it all together :P joff-nova-turbo has done this.

and i dont know if it will look like that, but it would look much better with an even depth all the way round the bigmouth, and the intercooler sitting level to this even depth?
