Personally I wouldn't pay £300 for a bonnet. Try Rich like Bry said. I got a cracking price for a full Calibra re-spray.

Actually, he's been spraying 30 odd years, and does some very nice work. See I know that, because I've actually been there and spoken to him, and seen the place. You haven't. So shut up.Originally Posted by richie00boy

The £5.00 hairdressers down the road does a better job than the £30.00 one in town?

Fair play if you have seen the work and you like it. I haven't seen it as you say. But in a few years time how will the paint job look then? Good paint is simply not cheap. Plus the proper amount of prep in painting a whole car is labour intensive and time consuming.
Let's just leave it here, I don't want to argue![]()

Yes I've seen it, and no it's not as good as a £2k respray... but it's 90% as good. You drive a 15 year old Astra, I drive a 10 year old Cavalier coupe... ie they are not bloody Mercs. Who cares if a respray isn't 100% perfect? 90% of the quality for 10% of the cost is much better IMO.

Stone chips hum! what happens when you spend £200 - £300 getting your bonnet resprayed, and on the way back from the garage you pick up one or two more stone chips ! you might aswell just touch it up here and there , or fill the chips up yourself and rub down and use good quality spray cans and you will prpbably not require more than say 5 cans of 400ml paint doing about 2 coats, this you will have to do in a very clean dust free envioronment if you want a professional job done with no inclusions, allowing paint to dry naturally without applying any heat, thenwhen its dry you could bake the paint to a very hard finiosh and if necessary polish and wax after a week and you could do the whole job for under £50.00. However you can't beat the professional sparayers but as a DIY you could still achieve a fair quality of finish from rattle cans.
Our future lies in the past, we can learn from the past to forcast our future,
if you want it done properly thata a good price or about right
i bought it with all the stone chips in, i used to have a corsa with no chips on the bonnet and drove it round here for a year and dint have one stone chip anywhere on the bonnet or anywhere that i could see!! i would consider buying a bonnet from a scrappy, and then spraying it myself!! how much would that cost and how would i go about doing it, e.g. which sand paper, primer, spray can, lacquer!! cheers
id ring all the vauxhall breakers and use one of the find a part companys . you should be able to get a black oneOriginally Posted by CORSA_MODIFIED

right well sorted it now!! ive been to the place that did the body work on my last car and there gonna do my bonnet and a 97> bumper in black for £140! that sounds btter to me!!?
if its any use i have used these live in whalley and they are brilliant also GW refurnish in blackburn on canterbry street there brilliant a very good job have decent booths etc there more expensive than read autobodies but they do a very good paint matching job so you would only have to to the bonnet not the wingsquoted me 350 to repair a pannel and colour match my bumper (yellow a nightmare to match) and touch up the door. did a perfect job imo
