    Astra Tyre/Type Question

    I have a 1.7 TD Mk4 Astra.

I have currently got 175/70 r14 84t tyres and would like to know what is the maximum size alloys and tyres i can put on without making any more changes to suspension or arches

When i ask ppl that ask whether it is an astra g or not, i currently do not have a clue, its a 1998 astra mk4 1.7td ls,if anyone could tell me anything i may need to know that would be great.

I have already debadged the rear and intend on changing the front and rear bumpers, also considering a pc installed instead of the digital display on center console, " Computers are more my thing"

Any suggestions or ideas would be great!!

It is an astra g and i have a coupe with 18's and lowered so cannot see any problems getting 19's on without modifying.

Thats a tyre size calculator to let you see what size you should get if upgrading.

not sure if i got this right

i have had a look at these calculators, not sure if i think i got it all right or not

My current tyres are 175/70/14 i think

I would like to go to 17"s

I looked at the calculator and it seemed 185/45/17 is the closest match to keep speedo close to correct, rather be going slightly slower that too fast, i know too well how many speed cameras in our area there are.

Also can someone recommend best tyres/alloys to go for for an astra mk4

205/40r17 would be the size you want
or maybe 195/40r17 if you wanted a narrower tyre

205/40 R17 would put your speedo out by 0.83% and it would be showing slower. So when you are showing 60 you would be doing 59.5mph. Nothing to worry about.

The choice is purely your own. Its whatever you think suits. Do not go by what other people say. Here's some 17's on my hatch...

    and 18's on the coupe...
