    Seam sealant- where to get?

Hi, im going to be stich welding my nova, and fitting group A spec plating kit (started stripping fuel tank/exhaust, next is engine etc)

After ive stich welded the engine bay, i would like to re-apply seam sealer, to make it look more original/smooth Wheres best to buy this, and how is it applied? (from a gun like you use for bathroom silicone etc???)

    thanks for replies, Gary

alryte mate.i think you shood be able to buy it at any place that sells body shop supplies.dont just buy silocone sealer..cos that will go mental when you try apply paint over it.as for putting it on..just put it around the area you want coverd and brush it out with a sealer brush

I used Wurth's Spray Seal. You need a compressor and the right airtool to go with it.

I didn't use any on mine as it can hold in moisture and cause rot, if the welding is good it's not really needed anyway.
Vauxhall's breaking and wanted for breaking pm me.

shurely if it can hold in moisture, then it also stops moisture getting in, if the cars dry when the sealant is applied??

My car was perfectly dry when it was applied a year later when I did a re-build there was rust forming under all the sealant. i would use minimal sealer and filler on any welding done personally.

ohh right, did you paint the welds etc before you applied the sealant? If you did, i wont bother then, maybe just a wee bit to make it look tidier at the edges (I will be painting all bare metal/welds with a rust preventor before applying sealant etc)

I painted over the welding with etching primer then had the engine bay re-sprayed. Didn't use any sealer at all.

YUP I WOULD USE SOMETHING LIKE WAXOIL IF DOING IT DURING THE WINTER I WOULD WARM THE WAXOIL UP BEFORE PUMPING IT INTO THE CHASSIS SO THAT IT SPREADS EASIER
