    Number plate illumination - Help!

As illustrated in the ‘shopped photo below, I’m having the back end of the Astra smoothed out as much as possible, and one of the bits being removed it the number plate light on the bumper. I want to mount something under the weather shield which will do the job.

Any suggestions? Any other models I could use for a donor? Has anyone else had this problem, and how did ya solve it?

Yeah but he wants it uber smooth! I say go with some high intensity LEDs under the lift handle, poiting down!

I've just been looking at them, think they look a little tacky. Would rather the light was out of sight.

Anyone got a shot of what these lights look like in situ?

Just back the plate with an EL sheet.

my dad was building me a line of 10 super bright white leds for my grab handle
so i could do the same and smooth the light...
just a small tube or box shape bit with the leds poking out...
hidden in the handle but really light up well,

Electro Lumenecant sheet - as used in the dial kits. Should shine through the plate no probs.

    That's what I'm talking about.

Alternatively, but been beating about one ebay, and come acorss these, dunno if they'd fit under the handle, as the car is about 50 miles away and I can't measure the damn thing. But these are available in black, and it I got 2 and mounted then either side of the lock... Wadda ya recon?

Measures 116mm wide x 38 mm high and 50mm deep

    for something simple,
    get another boot grab,
then sink in at each in pointing down at the plate two side light bulb,
then just restricked the power to them...

Do a search in Google for EL Sheet. You can cut it to whatever size you want and buy in different colours (inc. white). You'll need a power inverter as they run on 110v (EL stockists sell these).

Admitedly, LED or lights under the handles would be easier, but EL would be something a little different.

Yes. You would have a number plate shaped bit of plastic that glows white.

Cool, thanks man. Gonna need a quick fix should be getting her back very soon, and she not got any tax or a ticket, and I can't get it down the drive, so don't wanna be leaving it on the road for too long without any of the above. My luck some nob end will report it to the filth! The number plate light is my only MOT failure that I know of.
