    GTE 14" Tyres...

Right, have searched but can't find a straight answer.

Can I safely put 195section tyres on to standard 14" Astra GTE/Mk.2 Cav Wheels?

185's are gay, I need the grip

Plenty of cars stick very well to the road with 185 tyres; another 10mm won't give you sheds more grip. What pressures are you using?

I had 185/65/14's on my old GTE when I first got it.
Changed to 195/60/14's pretty quickly which gave a bit more grip.

Agreed, but another 10mm also saves your rims

I can't deny you that There are some tyres out there - can't remember who makes them - that have built-in rim-protectors (I guess it must be a small rubber flange which wraps over the rim of the wheel a little to help to protect it from kerbing).

early mk2 gte's were fitted with 185/60/14 then the later ones with 185/65/14, jumping upto 195/60/14 is not a problem my old one had 195's on lowered over 60mm and didn't rub catch or anything
