Full respray in your own garage? Advice?

Could I respray my Calibra in my own garage? It's quite clean and if I did one side at a time, I could have around 5ft of room on each side of the car to work in.

Would I need heaters? Any other problems ie ventilation?

I could clean it all out first and make sure it's dust free by watering the floor.

Give it a good hosing down dont just wett the floor wash the top bottom and sides.

Get plenty of light in there and you could rig up a car rad fan offa car battery charger shooting threw a hole in the wall.(make sure it not pointing towards your naighbours greenhouse or patio.

Whatever you do make sure you pay good money for a quality face mask designed for modern paint.

I used to spray in the open air (!). I got pretty good with a pair of tweezers pulling out little bits of hair and insects.
Fumes linger for hours and hours, even with good ventilation. I've got a lockup for 6 quid a week. Wet the floor to avoid dust rising from breezes from spraying and moving about.

best advice would probably be to keep the compressor/air warm maybe point a heater at the tank, if you can pick a warm day to do it aswell all the better because it will dry faster minimising crap landing in it. I think keeping it warm minimises orange peel as well? does something else someone on here said once. You can probably wet sand out some particle imperfections (dust etc) once it's dry but if it's taking hours to dry because it's cold and you get hair in it you might have problems.

use cardboard on the floor when you wet it not just bare floor, soaks up all the water and stays their longer. Get some dust sheets aswell and put them up make your own booth same day you do the spraying I would.

Watch out for silicon m8 its a killer when it comes to paint jobs try make sure theres no car parts in your garage as well it could mess your job up badly but from the sounds of things id do it just sand and polish if the imperfections are not to bad.

Usualy doing what 2PAC was sayingworks its been working for me. Try keeping the room dust free as possible and youl be ok if not youl end up with pits in your paint like small creators where the dust contacts the paint it couses a sank in looking dints in the paint but thats usualy bad dibree.

Get your self some G3 compund and usualy any minor imperfections can be sanded and polished up.

If you dont have heaters m8 a good thing would be to leave it to dry for like a week for garentee the paint is solid go back in and do all the finishing once the period is up. if you do happen to polish it to quickly youl notice the sun will couse the shine/reflection to blur.

    Im doing this too.
keep the floor damp, was the whole shed very well,
im gonna put a heater in the room to keep it a little warmer, for me as well as the paint!
and also i saw some hwere anti static sheets which drew dust toward them so u hand them on the walls and ceiling and it stays all nice.

see my thread on "would you ever attempt a respray yourself,"
    will post link up shortly

Note: the above may or may not be entirely correct.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, and then it struck me.

be careful using heaters and home made extractors, any spark while spraying can cause a huuuuge fireball.... Best just to use natural ventialtion (ie doors / windows open) unless you have the proper stuff.

You can get static sheets to put up on the walls to help keep dust off.

I've sprayed on the drive and even in the street! Most insects polish out dead easy without leaving a mark. Dust is harder as it can leave little pits or cause scratches.
Its better to burn out than to fade away. So long as theres not a police car behind you at the time...

im guessing a gas heater (flame) wouldnt be the best. and then u have the blower heater which could be worse as it could blow dust.
u can get those electric radiators which would be good!
