It will cost at least £150 to get the rocker cover chromed, you would be better off getting it polished, costing maybe £75 if done by someone,a lot cheaper if you do it yourself.
You can get stainless steel manifold covers [very nice, don't tarnish]from places like Mirage, alloy from spec-r for less than £40.
The main problem with chrome is the british climate, during the winter the chrome sweats, and condensation can lift the chrome off the surface.[looks crap]

Yup, I'd agree with the polishing idea. I got my rocker cover, heat shield and cam belt cover all done to a mirror finish for about £60. The only thing you have to watch is that it is bare metal so you need to look after it. Especially in winter as the road salt eats it alive (as I have recently found out). Use something like Autosolve or Brasso to keep it shiny.

Going by previous experience,I think it is very difficult to lacquer ontop of polished metals as they have nothing to take too.
you may on the other hand be able to get a lacquer stove enamelled on,or something similar.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, Been running the engine in

As soon as I get the new(er) rocker i'll be looking at getting it chromed. I've had the bodywork sorted but the engine bay is letting the side down

I'll let you know about costs etc
