Clear front indicators on a Phase 1 Mk3

    Yey or Ney ?

I can't decide whether these look good with a Mk3 Phase 1 grill.

I've seen a few phase 2s with orange indicators which look strange, but in certain colours it looks good.

I don't know how good clear ones would look on this... excuse the bad quality pic :

That is Exactly the same as my car, same colour too. Polishes up nicely.

Mines is a phase1 and id like to know if clears would look good because im considering getting them.

What reg is your car ? Mine was imported from England and used to be an 'M' one (hence it being a Vauxhall and not one of the ballooning number of Opels around here). Any other Mk3s the same colour as mine always seem to be 'M' too... weird.

Mine too, I'm surprised how good it looks for an 11 year old.
Only bodywork blemish I have is a small bubble of rust starting to come through on the rear arch on the drivers side. But my cousin whos a body man will sort that out easily enough.

Oh yeah it has a small dent on the back door on the passenger side too..

There are 2 types of clear indicators. Facelift ones come with no filter and you have to use Orange bulbs. You have to change the bulb holders if fitting those due to pin location.

Pre facelift ones came with a orange filter in and you use clear bulbs.

Both look better than the ugly orange ones.

Well that settles it, clears it is then

I've seen a few phase 2 V grille ones with orange ones. A metallic dark green one, and a sorta silvery bronze one. The green one looked ****, but the other one wasnt too bad.
Can't think why anyone would put them on that car though.

I didn't know that pre-facelift cars came with clears... I've never seen one.

The prefacelift GSi's all had clear indicators. Go for the clear ones, will update the front of the car.

Yup, cabrios, GSis and CDs all came with clear indicators on pre-facelift.

    .........correct.

Both will physically fit anyway even though headlights are different. I have facelift indicators on my convertible and mine's a pre-facelift. Both the orange filters fell out of the old ones, so replaced with the newer item.

Here's a picture of my old astra phase 1 with clear indicators fitted. Looks much better than the old orange ones.

U dont have to change bulb holders just go to your local partco etc and get orange with straight pins (not normally a stock item)

I've noticed a few L & M reg astras with a v grille and orange indicators, more than just accident replaced I think, so they must have made a few like that. Mines a 94 M and I've got the phase 1 style which I fitted clears too.

Nope. V grille came out on late 94 all with clear indicators. NONE came from the factory with orange indicators other than the pre-v-grille models.

The cars are getting quite old now and many have had new panels fitted. I've seen a whole host MK3's with incorrect grilles, indicators and such like

Mine's same colour but with clear indicators. I think it brings it up to date nicely. Will try to post pics later.
Tis far better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
