Will it kill my baby engined corsa?
Will it kill my baby engined corsa?
It won't KILL ur engine, but it won't do ur acceleration any favours! It might help ur top speed a little tho (if u ever accelerate long enough to get to it!) but don't quote me on that.
I'm planning to put 17's on my Corsa 1.2 16v soon too. I reckon it's well worth it coz it looks quality!
If ur into how ur car looks then do it mate, u'll regret if u only go for 15's or maybe 16's! Coz lets face it, with a 1.2, style and ICE is what to go for, coz u don't have much to work on in performance ways!
A mate of mine has 17s on his 1.2 16valve and my god it really lost its "nippyness"
I've seen a few 1 litre 12v's round my way on 17's. They're not the fastest even to start with, but they look the dogs ****** with 17's!! Mind u, one's all kitted up and stuff....
Nippyness is something I'm willing to sacrifice for looks! But that's just my opinion.![]()
well iv got a rough set of o.z. 15s. they will do forthe winter
Bigger wheels only increase your top speed if your engine has the power to turn them round. My engine is a 1.4 8v, and my top speed has dropped, so I cant imagine a 1.2 8v speed will increase.
Put the 17s on, you know its worthwhile. Just be aware, if you havent got power-steering, the steering will become quite abit heavier becuase of the bigger tyres and heavier wheels.

powersteering i aint got, but what about the handling i just bought a full gmax kit lowering 40mm would that help
Can u let me know what the G-max kit is like once u've got it all on (kit and wheels) coz i'll be needing to lower mine when I put 17's on too. I have power steering tho!
Cheers
17" do look that dogs ******** , but im thinking of selling mine and going for 15"s and slamming the bitch so i will be able to corner well good.
If it dont rub then it aint low enough :D
yeah no probs im expecting it to be hard
Wonder if u took powersterring out of another corsa would it work in mine![]()
only bad thing is with putting 17"s on little cars is the drive shafts get put under loadsa stress as they are lugging huge bits of metal and rubber in stead of weenie steelies. But most modern cars can cope with that much more percentage strain just dont be suprised if they dont last forever! Im getting 17"s on my 1.4 sport but i will be sad to lose the powerBut itl look 500000% better than with 14" 3spokes lol.
go 4 it mate, my friend has a 1.2 16v with millie mig Evos on it and it looks the badgers knadgers. So sod performance as if were all honest u aint gunna buy n e thing thats really fast till ure 25. Oh and the amount of head turning u get will make up for lack of performance!

My sister ghas a 1.2 8v and the steering aint to bad. Leave it and spend the money on other stuff. 40mm drop should make it a really quite nice handling car. You dont have a antirol bar on the back do you. The one on the front is probabblly piss small is it. See if a sr or GSI/sport is bigger cos that will make another very big difference
dont drop ure car by -40mm unless u plan to get wheels, as my car is running 14"s (standard) and lowered that much and i cant get over short bumps without giving the underpan a damn good scraping-not healthy, at least fit 15"s if ure gunna slam it, but even then u should go for 17"s as 15"s imo look ****

But my standard 13's are the same overall size as 15's with low profile tires anyway, so what difference would it make if I, or anyone else, lowered it first?
Not that it really matters coz I'm definitely getting 17's anyway!

it wil sit higher cos alltohugh the wheel is the overall same size, the bolts that connect wheel to hub are further off the floor, if u get me, its late and that was an awfull description, ill get pix of mine done, parked up to my mates zetec-s (hes lowere -60mm on 15"s) mines like a foot lower
J
If your corsa has come with 14" sport style wheels OR 13" steelies, then 17" wheels will be, on average approx. 1" bigger diameter. which is nothing really.
lowering - normally about 30mm-40mm max really. The two bolts have to be removed from the rear arches to avoid tyre rub under 'normal' conditions.
But you will get scrubbage with passengers in the back.
Hope this helps![]()

Personally ide go for some 16s on a 1.2 and slam it to the ground, not that much differnce in size and u will still be able to nip around.
Its plain to see you can't change me coz im gonna be a wigga for life !
I dont no how much clearence are under the aarches.
If it were me i would lower it 60mm
DOnt forget when people say it is raised 1 inch which is nothing that is absolutly not true. Think about it
1inch = 25mm.
Just imagine RAISING your car 25mm.
Get 17's but dont leave it standerd or it will look like a hilux
I think my 40mm drop will do theres alot of bad roads round my way
40mm is cool on 17"s, get bump stops too, thatl help the scrubbin stop with peeps in the back
