Retrimmed My Door Card Today

Slowly but surely I'm converting my interior to black. First I had a load of plastic bits sprayed and done my carpets too. Next on my list was my doorcards as the resprayed bits looked a little out of place.

As it was:-

Stripped off the old cover:-

Cut the material to shape:-

Started to stick it all down:-

Put the tray bit on:-

Trial fitted before cutting speaker hole:-

Speaker fitted and finished product:-

The pictures don't do it justice, looks much better in the flesh especially compared to the red.

This is actually a trial fitment and I used sub box style carpet. When I get my new seats and get the rears retrimmed in alcantara to match I was gonna have the door cards done too. I like the look of this tho so we'll see how it goes. Just got the ther side to do now!

Comments welcome.

Not bad at all.

Only thing that would have made a better job maybe, would be to of sewn some padding to the rear of the black material you used, this makes it more plush and gives it some lines too.

Not a problem - just used spray glue on the front and some special double sided tape on the backs for the folds. Don't ask me what it is as I "borrowed" it from the bodyshop when I worked in a garage about 3yrs ago!

The camera has picked up the fold mark but you can't see it in real life well not easily anyway!

It wasn't my first choice either but I had a roll lying around and thought at least it was an improvement/step in the right direction. "Ideally" it will be retrimmed with the rest of the car in alcantara.

Mate's a sprayer in a bodyshop. he done them for me using the propper prep and paint etc. Charges me next to nowt.

The dash will either be retrimmed, flocked or swapped for a GSi item.

Anthony - No.
