    Opinions: Nova Bonnet

    Hi everyone,

Just been looking at changing the style and colour of the bonnet on my nova. I have looked into carbon fibre which is too expensive and hard to lay up so I have decided to paint the bonnet a darker colour in comparision to the rest of the car which is painted red. I have been speaking to a few users including Barwich and SimonP etc on one of my posts on Carbon Fibre Bonnets. They have given me a lot of advice about staying away from carbon fibre and painting the bonnet, thanks lads. I'm just not sure which colour to go for but I have done a few photoshop images which are as follows:

    http://public.fotki.com/PiKe31/nova/nova_1.html

    http://public.fotki.com/PiKe31/nova/nova_2.html

    http://public.fotki.com/PiKe31/nova/...56_copy_5.html

    http://public.fotki.com/PiKe31/nova/...ew_bonnet.html

Can you tell whether you like before or after and which style and colour I should go for.

    Cheers,

    Denis

stick with it as it is, because that looks good
imo carbon bonnets look ****, the only purpose they serve is to reduce the weight of the vehicle, so unless you can justify it by doing trackdays and 1/4 mile runs etc then steer clear!
listen to Simon, he has some very good advice when it comes to styling

As Andrew says, carbon fibre bonnets do serve as purpose, to reduce weight. Left unpainted they look like unpainted patent bonnets from a distance. Seen quite a few cars with unpainted patent bonnets fitted to their cars trying to make it look like a CF version...it's just a bit pointless and messes up the car. Carbon fibre bonnets are good but need to be used in the correct context. As a weight reduction mod, they are a good idea and a cool thing to do for that reason. Just fitting one unpainted for the sake of it, just doesn't work IMHO.

Carbon fibre bonnet + Paint = nice.

In a crash, a proper carbon bonnet won't crumple. It will snap off its hinges and straignt through your screen.

Also, IMO if you have a diffrent colour bonnet, it will look like you've had a crash and visited the scrappy.

Why not try Carbon Fibre effect Self adhesive vinyl, then laquer the bonnet, i've seen it done & it looked pretty good.
