    wanting some wheel spaces?

    just finished builing my wide arched nova and am now in need of some wheel spacers, i have measured that it would take a max of a 30mm wheel spacer with my 17s but i would like 20mm, does anybody no the best place to get these and how much they roughly are? unless anybody has any they wana sell me?

    dont even think about it.

    if you want to get your wheels to fill the arches, do it properly and get a rally wide track kit, expensive, but its the right way to do it, wheel spacers will destroy the handling, and youll be changing wheel bearings at least twice a year, especially with 30mm spacers!

    i dont know where you should look for a wide track kit, Rob@RSC might be able to get you one, or point you in the right direction.

    I've got some 16" white Team Dynamic's multi-spoke's for sale which have an offset of ET37 (i think) which would fill your arch's more...

    I've grabbed 5mm wheel spacers for the rear on my mk3 astra...... will my bearings be affected?

    I've fitted 5mm spacers on the front wheels of my wife's Focus and all seems to be fine. I'm running 2mm spacers on the front wheels on my Cally T with no probs. I think up to 5mm is OK and you can buy these 'off the shelf'. Above that I think you'll have problems with wheel bolts or studs (depending on which you have) and need to order longer ones for starters. You need to have spacers over 5mm probably made to order too - probably best to get the right offset wheels in the first place.

    i have the right offset wheels for a nova but as the wide arch kit is obviously wider the are now not the right offset, im not fussed about the handeling as this is a show car and not a race car, wheel bearings cost about 12 quid and 20 mins of time to fit but wide track kits cost about 600 quid so unless im gona keep the car for over 6 years its not gona save me money? anybody got any ideas to the question asked? cheers

    I have the correct offset alloys, I stuck with Vauxhall ones...... I've got Eibach 5mm spacers and extended bolts, was just querying if I'm likely to be affected in a negative manner!?

    still mate, if you dont care about the handling, i hope its going to be trailerd to every show, cause your gonna need something like 6cm bolts to hold the wheels on, and thats not exactly the safest thing to be doing, wheel bolts aint meant to take that kind of force applied to them. ok its only a show car, but it would be more of a show car with the proper wide track kit. instead of everyone looking at yer wheels and seeing a 30mm spacer between the hub and the wheel.

    alternativly if its a show car, getting some 10" wide rims instead could be a better, 'cooler', safer option. then every one can marvel at your massive rims, instead of your massive spacers.

    spacers are fine for applications like spacing the wheel out a couple of mm to avoid the spring platform on a coilover(ie fitting spax coilovers to a nova with vauxhall 15" alloys and 195/45/15 tyres) they shouldnt be used to make the wheel sit out closer to the arch.

    id doubt that 5mm would affect the bearings much, you wouldnt significantly notice a shorter life span. i run 3mm spacers on the front of mine cause the tyre rubs the spring adjustor platform.

    There was a 1.2 Clio at something I went to the Pod for a few weeks ago with a full V6 bodykit. That was bad enough, but I actually laughed out loud when I saw the size of the wheel spacers that he had used!! They just looked totally stupid and immediately made the whole thing look half-ar*ed.

    If it is a show car, take Craig G's advice and do it properly. Otherwise your car will just be a laughing stock like the Clio.

    Just go for a 7 or 8x17 wheel, with an offset of ET10 - 12, sorted. No need for spacers then.

    Spacers arent a good idea at all.

    If your still interested in spacers then try a firm called Pemberton tyres (sorry can't find number to hand). They made me up some hubcentric spacers which I needed to make my 20's (less width than my old 18's) fill my arches similar to what you need to do.

    They bolt on to your hubs and your rims simply attach to them, safely and with no problems. Deffo stay away from the ones which need longer bolts if you can, especially at the widths you need. When searching the internet earlier in the year I found the hubcentric spacers are a common thing in the Porsche world so if they are fine for a porker than they must be ok for my calibra and your nova I guess.
