removing recess on side of mk3 astra???

im getting my mk3 astra resprayed in a couple of weeks time and i want to smooth off the recess where the bump strips used to be, what will i use to fill it and finish it ready for the spray shop to take over.
would hate to **** it up and the spray job enhance any imperfections on the sides.
