    Retrim Progress

    following on from this thread,

    http://www.cavweb-forums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=45957

ive been making some progress in retrimming the seats in my cav, all the leather parts are cut out and ready to my sewn this weekend hopefully,

thought id lay them on the seat along with the suede to see how they look, well pleased with how the leather and suede go together, cant wait to get it all stiched and fitted so i can get them back in the car!!

suede and leather came off ebay

tis Faux suede, similar to alcantara only slightly softer, alcantara is basicly a brand name anyhow! got 15m for £35 inc delivery, costs £16 per meter in the local supplier

and the leather, got 3 hides for £120 basicly, 2 at £30 and 1 at £60, average hide costs £150 plus from the local supplier,

so far ive used under 1 hide for the front seats and i would guess a similar amount for the rear bench, ive also made up my own gear and handbrake gaitors already.

gonna retrim the door cards in a mixture of leather and the suede and a few other parts witht the suede, got enough so might aswell put it to good use!!

on top of all that ive had to but some foam and few other tools and stuff but all in other than my time the entire retrim shouldnt cost me more than £250 - £300 and i get the pleasure of knowing i did it all myself!!

Where did you get the foam from I am retriming a nova at the mo and I'm having trouble getting the foam in the right depth everywhere does 1" thick but I only need 4mm at the most looking good the most satisfying thing will be that its your own work and you haven't paid some one to do it for you.

local upholstery place, got some 5mm and 3mm, 5 for the centre panels and 3 for under the leather, give it a nice padded feel but still retain the sporty hold of the recaros!
