sorry to resurect an old thread, but i have a wet footwell and the sock is clear also...
when i filled the scuttle up with water and blocked the sock up, water came pissing in via the heater blower seal.

so how do you seal it? is it just a job for the silicone sealant?

just siliconed it today, what a bugger of a job(you need long thin fingers)........
I have only siliconed round the botttom of the heater/scuttle bit, near where the sock goes. is that right? i s'pose only time will tell.lol

Get the hose out and give the windscreen a good going over, you will soon see if it has worked or not
