Question Removing Ashtray from mk3 astra

Hi , anyone know how you remove the ashtray in a mk3 , not just the tray i can do that but the hole thing inc the flip down face bit itreid looking but gave up as run out of light, looks like you may have to remove the whole centre console but i dont want to if i dont have to .

    cheers !

its held on with plastic welds (3 or 4 down each side) and unless you wanna get brutal with a screwdriver the only way to remove the lot is to take the centre console out, but thats only a 10 minute job - 2 screws at the front, 1 under the tray behind the gear lever, 1 under the handbrake, and 2 under the rear ashtray.

Just slice through the plastic welds with a stanley knife to remove it.. I did it to modify mine to fit a monitor
