    Chrome Calipers. Pics anyone?

When I'm back, I am going to be going a bit concourse with my Astra. Just general tidying up and painting bits underneath.

Always want to chrome the rims on my wheels.

Eventually, I want to take the calipers off, I have a mental polising kit somewhere. Will shot blast them, then smooth off the all the casting finish and marks. After, I will get them chromed and fit new seal kits. Fit some green stuff pads also.

Anyway, Has anyone seen this done on standard type calipers?

Oh, should look interesting. My exhaust goes a gold colour if not clean and black if I boot it for nice periods of time.

Its hard to chrome calipers so I have been told and to get a good finish.

I know of people that have melted calipers getting them chromed but dont know how or why

If you're interested in having your calipers chromed, you need to get intouch with Kelvin for a price.
I'm not sure what he's charging for what cause I had my front V6 done and the rear conversion Astra ones done too. It depends on what you're wanting chroming (anything metal so you can get a bling bling engine bay too!!)
    kelvin@minichrome.co.uk
or ring him on 01662 813815
He specialised in mini parts to start off with, but he's broadening the network now.
One thing that has been learnt through experience is the condition of the caliper (or metal) you want chroming.
Instead of taking mine off the car and sending them to be done, I went to the scrap yard and bought a set. They were quite rusty with the weather, but I thought they would come up in the chroming process.
Unfortunatley, the finish wasnt smooth all round becaue of this. Not fault of Kelvins, just the state of the material he had to work with.
So what he wants now is either new or working parts i.e ones that are on the car, to obtain a flawless finish.
I'll be getting some engine bay bits done too at some point
As for 'will anybody notice' or the thought'DAM THOSE ARE NICE CALIPERS' Greg, when was the last time you saw a show car with chrome calipers?
Probably not until now because it isnt a mod thats turned popular yet. Its like any mod really. If it catches on and is liked, then people will get them done.
Amittedly, calipers arent in a position to be noticed first off, but with many show cars, they have a spec sheet and these are for the purpose of informing people of the mods involved.
Unfortunately Cossvaux only had time to concetrate on making sure the engine bay/conversion was done in time and didnt get chance to fit the calipers.
I took a set with me to the show tho, and they attracted quite a bit of attention.
They are part of my spec sheet and when they are fitted, I'll probably take a picture of them and incorporate it in the spec. Thus drawing peoples attention to them.

That looks lovely. Thanks for the pic. I couldn't ever get it looking like that. Just clean underneath with some chrome calipers and braided hoses is about as far as I would take it as I still want to drive the thing.
