All priming done......how next?
I have finished priming all the GSi kit now, looks fooking good too.
Now I am going to apply the base coat tomorrow and the laquer. What I need to know is do I colour 3-4 then clean gun and laquer 2-3, or do the whole kit in colour then laquer the whole lot, bearing in mind it could take 5 hours to do all the colour.
Or would a better idea be do half in colour then laquer, then do the other half?
Any of you pro's with tips on how long to leave the base before laquer is applied will be handy, thanks.

Re: All priming done......how next?
I'd do all the colour then all the clear. Saves on gun cleaning and materials if nothing else.
Did you get the paint spec sheets from your supplier? This tells you how long you can leave it before re-coating or clearing.
Not sure about 2K base typical times.
If you let the base fully cure then you will need to lightly key it before clearing. If its not cured you can go straight on with the clear.

Re: All priming done......how next?
It only mentions that if the base if left for 24 hours then like you say, a light key will be needed, and to be honest, I have done enough sanding so do not wonna do any more.
I think I will do the front/back bumpers in colour then laquer, then do the skirts, etc, later.

Re: All priming done......how next?
Unless you have a really slow thinner the base coat will be ready for re-coating after just 5-10 mins (especially the temp it is at the moment). So the chances are, if you do the whole kit in one go, by the time you have finished the last piece it will be time to hit the first one again. If it is 2-pack base then you only have to wait until it has 'flashed-off' - ie it looks 'dry' rather than 'wet'.
Then leave it 15-30 mins before doing the laquer.

Re: All priming done......how next?
I dont have enough room to work on all the pieces at once, I can do a bumper at a time, skirts are worked on in 2 bits at a time (6 in total) then there is all the jacking covers.
So it takes time.

Re: All priming done......how next?
my advice would be to do one at a time like you sugested. no one has warned yo about overspray yet and this is an arese as all can look ghood but not perfectly shiney - as a result you have to sand and cut back the final product when its dry and im like you - who wants to do that if it can be avoided.
i would just do the front bumper letting it dry over night then do front letting it dry over night then....... you gert the idea. was the easyest way i found if your working during the days.
hope this helps
