Newbie Mk4 Astra Offset help please

Hello all,

Right i've done a search and looked through the posts so sorry if you have heard this time and time again, however i couldn't find the exact answer i was looking for.

I have a Mk4 astra 3dr 1.8 sxi (4 stud) 02 plate arriving in the next couple of weeks and i want to know whether or not my wheels from my civic coupe will fit straight on with no problems. They are 17" OZs with 205/40s pcd=4x100 et=40.

The car i'm getting is very nice and i'm quite picky so i don't want to have any problems with them sticking out too far or fouling at all.

does anyone have this fitment on their mk4? Or anyone that can answer this for definate.

yeah they'll be sound mate, although something like an ET45 would be better if you were planning on lowering it more than 40mm.

nah i'm not planning on taking it too low at all, and wont be doing it for a while either after buying the thing. Excellent so i'm right in thinking that they will stick out 5mm more than they should? That seems hardly anything on a car that can take 18"s no mods.

Not sure about it messing the handling up though? Shouldn't affect it too much will it?

ET40 is acceptable. yes they would stick out 5mm further than a set of ET45. I think the standard wheels are ET43 or similar.
