MK3 standard bumpers

Are mk3 astra sport bumpers just standard but colour coded with the tops left black.And with foglights.
CAn you paint the standard black bumpers in glacier white using spray cans, has anyone done it.

you can but u will need to buy the proper plastic primer for it to stick to it u can buy this from most body shops as i did this to mine but make sure u rub well down and prime plenty

OK thanks mate, i didn't use proper plastic primer for my dtms and it ended up OK.
How many cans of spray do you think i am looking at.
I will make sure that the bumper is proper smooth, as any lines in the primer show up, i learnt this from my first spraying experience.
I was gonna go to a bodyshop but i an't got the money to pay £100-£200, so may have a go myself, but i think my car might look too "white".Everyone says colour code, but some black bits really break the paint up nicely.
However i think they would look better in white.

can post some tommorrow what i did was buy one of them cheap spray things for doing fences and got some paint from the body shop looks good as a proper one does

Does anyone have any idea how many cans of spray paint i will need.
And have you got any advice to doing something with the bumpers to make them look a bit more interesting, summit like a big-mouth, or cut out them little vents at the bottom of the front bumper.

Yep i did mate, they came out bloody good as well for a spray can. Do u want some pics?

yeh please, also can you say how you primed it etc, i will be needing to rub existing paint off and then prime then spray

Ok mate, be back in a min.
I used plastic primer on the back, but didn't on the front, didn't really notice a difference.
My bumpers were just the original black, so i just lightly sanded any scratches off, and got any silicone off with meths spirit. And then just sprayed the primer, sanded any uneven bits, and sprayed the colour.
Its best if you can do it indoors, inside a garage as the paint seems to dry shinier. Also i found that the more rough you made the surface the duller the paint came out, anything i have sprayed that i left slightly shiny came out a lot shinier.
The final thing to do is use summit like G3 cutting compound to shine them up.

where did you get the grill done?

Do the bumpers shine as much as your car

No they don't shine as much as the car, but i didn't use g3 cutting compound or anything, may do that this weekend as i didn't have time to use it so just wacked the bumpers back onto the car.
I did the grill myself, it looks pretty professional, i just cut the middle bits out, blocked the holes where the middle bar attached with some bits of plastic, then secured the plastic in with glue, fillered over the hole, smoothed the filler, sanded, and sprayed the whole grille. I was suprised how good it came out.

The grille shines as good as the car does though, its same as what i said about anything i have sprayed and left shiny(not sanded so that it was dull) has came out shiny. I sanded the bumpers and they didn't come out shiny.
I also meshed the cut out bumper and the grill.

Yeah the front bumpers been done the same as mine, ave you gotta spray them to match your car.

yep, will just sand them down, prime them with that plastic primer, then spray them
