    Looks okay on Mattig's.
It's when you put it under the front bumper when things get carp.
One dog goes one way and the other goes the other.

true. but they give feck all rear visability and just nicely block out the word 'police' on the front of the old rovers you used to see on the motorways

Ditto there Lee!!! When Ford released the Escort Cosworth the the small rear spoiler, it enhanced the look of the car no end.

Haven't you ever seen an RS Cosworth with the interior mirror moved 6 inches to the left or right? lmao

/EDIT From memory, there was a 3dr Cosworth that went up the Birmingham 'Circuit' in the late '90s that had one of those dash-mounted rear-view mirrors.

He'd obviously had the same problem.

The original whale-tail for the Escort RSC actually significantly aided the cars low-speed road-holding; not because of the aerodynamic effect but because of the sheer weight - around 150KG formed in Kevlar if my sources are correct.

Doesn't stop it looking rubbish though...or rather, not as good as it does with the small spoiler.

Would sooner have a tub of concrete in the back then!! LOL

Tub o' crete it is then

I was just remembering how the extra weight of my XR4i's bi-level wing ruined 2 sets of struts - and that was only made of some sort of plastic

Must have weighed a fair bit cos I always felt the XR4i had more 'pendulum' effect in the drift than other Sierras; good for starting drifts but a pain to damp the return swing. I ended up fish-tailing quite a lot in that car

Not to mention the time I booted it off from the BP garage on the Cov road in Sheldon, spun 180' and had to drive back onto the forecourt lmao

    Re: whaletails

that weight sounds a bit off. i'd say my whaletail weighs less than 5kgs, it felt like it when it was off the car.

your not thinking of downforce of 150kg maybe?

from memory ford quote for the 3 dr the same effect of 100kg downforce at 80 - 100mph from mine.

no idea with xr4i weight but shouldn't have been much different i'd have thought?
