whats the difference between 215 and 205 tyres, which are best???????????

215 tyres are an extra 10mm wide. therefore better handling and grip.. the profile percentage will also drop with increased width.

215 tyres are 10mm wider so will tramline more, which is bad for handling.
They'll also aquaplane easier in the wet, make the steering heavier....

They are a tight fit on the MK2/3 Astra, but IIRC the MK4 has more arch clearance, so should be fine with them.

215/40/17s were fitted to the MK4 Turbos, so the suspension must cope better than tha Cavalier/Astra2/3
