    Button-featuring gear knobs

I remember seeing in an old POTN catalogue a gear knob, which had four switches on the top which could be used to control whatever you want (lights, amp etc).. but I can't find it (or any) anywhere now.

I can't be bothered to cut into my centre console + panelling, so it would be ideal.

Would be even better if it has lift-up reverse capability!!!

Sorry I can't help with a link to them, but know exactly what you mean.
I seem to remember they were in the region of £70ish but could be used fro anything that you wanted.

if my memory is correct (bare in mind it's Euro 2004 and is having an affect! lmao ) they were used in some TVR's to minimise clutter on the dash and stalk area?

Just had a quick search on the web and found this for you

Yeh.. it's similar, but not that one I don't think. This annoying.. got the POTN catalogue i nfront of me and can't find it. Maybe was somewhere else.

Had 4 buttons like the linked one above, but was silvery-grey, and i think had a flimsy-looking plastic cover to stop them being accidentally pressed.

I have a feeling it was a surprisingly cheap £42 ish.

Ooo.. Demon Tweeks have one made by B&M, but only has one central button.

Just found a different one from Varad - Racerboy gear knob... £60, but still not the one I had in mind.

YES!! But oh no. I found it at http://www.espdesign.co.uk/udp.asp?c...model=&udp=771 , but unfortunately it doens't look suitable for lift-up reverse. Gay.

Well then go to www.demon-tweeks.co.uk and under Interior Styling theres one by B&A Design (i think, it's definitely there). Don't know about lift-up-reversabality though

    Re: Button-featuring gear knobs

You can get aftermarket steering wheels with horn buttons on. Maybe it would be possible to use these buttons for other applications. If the buttons aren't going to be used all the time, maybe you could build a compartment inside the ashtray part, so when you press the button to pop open the ashtray, it opens to reveals the switches. Dunno how posible/practical these would be tho!!!!

    Re: Button-featuring gear knobs

I've tried that already.. it's a bit of a pain in the arse getting it right, as it needs to all be recessed inside the ashtray, because of the stupid metal plate top thingy which comes right down on top of it. Even if removed, there's still no room.

If only those other ones came as lift-up reverse.

lol ashamed to admit it but in one of my cars I put a switch up the top of the A pillar with its own little custom built thing. I wont say what I built it with cause its embarassing.
