    door fitment adjusting

    Hi Guys,

I got my new door today, took the old one off, hung the new one and it doesn't line up the same. Haynes says there is no adjustment, but my Dad spied a flatted surface on the hinge of the door... are we just supposed to bash this til it fits?!

Cheers if anyone can advise, I have a cav looking weird with a door missing at the moment

Nope no adjusment on the door hanging.

The hinges are welded to the door and door shut.

All you can do is adjust the stricker plate on the door shut to raise the door when its shut

Most body shops get one of there monkeys to either lift it up at the handle end and move the hinges (a little bit) or pull it down to give the shut line!! Do this very carefully though as you could end up with your door hinges attached to the door sitting on the floor!!

Hehe, my Uncle used to be a Saab master technician and apparently the Saab recommended method for adjusting doors (ie when wind noise was a problem etc) was to close the door in on a big piece of wood, and lever the door up to bend the thing into place!!

So armed with an old floor joist we bent the door up!! Tip though, don’t use the bottom of the door as the point to apply the force because its too flimsy. Get another piece of wood and put it against the larger flat at the bottom of the main cavity, gives it a better surface area.

    Job done!

Does anyone know if you can buy the rub strips? And also I need new Sri stickers, think I would rather go back to pre-facelift jobbies, can I get all this from Vx?
