    Re: New wheels today!

I used to have a twin oval piper SS backbox on my Cav CDX. Looked mint and sounded really nice. Good low note at tickover and nice sound when revving etc, but NOT too loud, especially good for motorways etc.

    Re: New wheels today!

lol no I didnt... It did go off every now and then, I put it down to the ultrasonics being too sensitive… so if I was leaving it for a long time I would disable them with the button on the B pillar… Why what’s up with it? Im thinking of going for a turbo conversion to my engine soon, how du fancy teaming up We’ll show all these 16 valvers the 8v’s are still worthy hehe… ah Im so glad its still going, good old car that was.

Oh and I hope you binned that letter lol

Im beginning to go towards another scorpion monza zorst, I don’t really want to wait for mail order…. And Im not sure from the pics on their site that the Ashley’s will stick out far enough on the car!

    Re: New wheels today!

i'm up for that! turbo 8v's rock!! you work out how to make the manifold, and im there ;-) . i'm gonna fix the alarm soon, i swapped the ultrasonics, but it still goes off. fault codes still show ultrasonics, so i think the wires are knackerd. plus, the indicators dont flash which they should. i just havent had time to look into it.

anyways, keep me updated on the turbo conversion! it's something i was considering anyway with my ne. that or an xe. but turbo is so much cooler

    Re: New wheels today!

Cool, I am going to crunch some numbers and see what I’d need to do, seeing as yours is the NE and mine the SEH you would probably get away with less work, I know my compression ratio is going to have to come down a bit! Was going to go for a T3 off a saab or Volvo etc… Then I have a place near me that I think will make a braket to fit between the manifold and downpipe… then its just really plumbing it in! Problem is finding a good turbo, intercooler etc for not a lot of cash, but time is on our side. Oh and some ECU mapping lol.

As for the alarm thing, it didn’t really do it much, Im sorry tho dude if its caused you trouble. Hey you got any pics of the beast?!

    Re: New wheels today!

it's kind of in a transitional period at the minute. the wheels are waiting to be refurbed, and the new brakes and grill need to go on. after that, and its had a polish, i'll send you some pics

dont worry about the alarm, i like fixing stuff anyway lmao

get back to me with the prices for the conversion! how are you planning to get extra fuel in ? custom management seems a bit expensive for a diy bodge like this. have you seen those megasquirt ecu thingys ?

    Re: New wheels today!

I thought they were oil cooled but Ill be honest I dont know. I am going to have a good look into it when time allows. It wont be a complete bodge, just a low pressure job. I think having it remapped will be worth it long term. My engine has only done 67k and I want it to do the same again at least! Also the amount of dynamat going into this car its gonna need a turbo to make up the weight gain lol

    Re: New wheels today!

by bodge i just meant converting an na engine to turbo, no reason why it shouldnt be reliable tho with decent management. i have the same problem, my wheels are heavy! and then theres the sound deadening, subs, amp mounts etc.

anyways, PM me when your gonna do it, as i'd be interested, and i'll post up some pics of the beast when its ready for it

i got a piper 4" slashcut jap style exhaust system for my cav sri ill have a look for a pic and post it. it looked good but i made the mistake of only getting a mild steel because after i sold it it just rusted badly.

    Re: New wheels today!

Just ordered a twin 3" round s/s system from Ashley.

Didnt get the manifold cos if I do the turbo conversion it seems pointless. Any ideas how much (if any) power gains I can expect?

Derek - that Cav is low as a ho!
