During the years of my Astras life its picked up quite a few scratches, only very fine but there all the same. Also some marks where gits open doors into my car.
Whats the best stuff to polish this out with? its diamond black metallic paint. Need something the i can pick up in halfords, also something to protect the paint after application would be good.

Autoglym paint renovator (but don't rub it in too hard) polish this off then a good wax. I tend to use the colour match wax (get a free stone chip lipstick thang with it)..keeps the colour deep
i don't know if you can do it with metallic paint but my mate just went over my car with some G3 on a mop and it looks amazing. sooooo much better than t-cut and took about 1000th of the time! his job is supplying chemicals to bodyshops so he can get it really easy but i've heard you can ask your local bodyshop people for some, just gotta catch them on a good day, lol.
gotta make sure you keep it well polished afterwards though!

think i will go with the 1st reply, seen some work from my local body shop.. wasnt impressed and they charge a ton, cant see them giving anything away.
oh i also have some faded paint/laquer and some top layer peeling, any suggestions?
I work in a bodyshop and we use G3 All the time on any paintwork. Is the best stuff for removing scratches and just making the paintwork MINT! You can also get a Cheaper version from halfords, think its just called Halfords rubbing compound, It comes in a big yellow tube, usually with the sand paper. This stuff is just as good and is only 3 quid.
Faded paint will go away instantly with this stuff, but the laquer peel will have to get done properly at a bodyshop.

lol well all i plan atm is led repeaters on the wings (oval) and thats cos 1's broke already oh and a drivers wing mirror as the 1 u see there doesnt match
