Can Cats Damage Paintwork (Serious Question)

Since buying my car brand new I've noticed a growing amount of scratches (always three or four lines close together) all over my car, but never been able to work out how the Feck they got there. Anyway to cut a long story short I was chatting to a bloke from over the road and he said that his cat loves to sit on my car at night. Didn't say anythin to him at the time but as soon as he told me it seemed like thats where these scratches are coming from ? So what I wanna know is can they scratch paintwork ?? If they can then that cat is gonna get it

Re: Can Cats Damage Paintwork (Serious Question)

    Yeah Tay they can.
One of our neighbours cats used to sit on the bonnet of me Dad's car and used to scratch the paintwork when getting on and off (my Dad used to get well p****d off).
    There isn't really a solution don't think.

    LOL AdamSri. lmao
I was trying to stop meself from saying that in case there were any cat lovers who may be offended.
The cat died so that was that (nothing to do with me or my Dad, honest).
I've heard lion s**t does the job of deterring cats, but I doubt you would wanna rub s**t all over yer car.

    Good idea!
I hate it how dog owners are held totally responsible for their pets (which is quite right), yet cat owners are not. Dunno if you've ever noticed how cats **** in everyone else's garden but their own.

    Get a warn away alarm.

That puts em off before they get close enough to jump up.

Generally they only use them for getting up on garages, fences etc, so leave a big gap

have the same problem with the next door neighbours cat, always jumping up on the car when i have cleaned it, coming in the house as soon as the doors/windows are open, i have been trying to give it a good soaking, considering buying a supersoaker to do the job properly

Re: Can Cats Damage Paintwork (Serious Question)

my dads cat decided to climb all over my astra just after i had sprayed the bonnet and roof. Ruined it. It also liked to walk through puddles of thinners and paint residue. Told my dad about it, wouldnt listen, anyway about 2 weeks later it died of liver failure, from licking the paint and thinners off its feet.

    Godd riddance, stupid little tw&t

Re: Can Cats Damage Paintwork (Serious Question)

seems like everyone has the same problem!!! but not everyone has the same solution.i like the idea of the pressure washer myself, blast it with that a couple of times and hopefully the cat will get it to its head that if it comes near your car again you are goin to abuse it some more lol!!!!! lmao lmao
if this is dont work then gather tape its legs then leave it on its owners doorstep with a little note suggesting they control there cat!!!!lol
    lmao lmao lmao lmao
on a serious note matey it mite be worth getting a ultrasonic emmitter like dethstar suggested, according to my dad the do the job!!!!.

They don't like the smell of oranges and it's cheaper than a can of spray.
