    Tempted (Pic...)

Just been chatting in Mech/Elec forum etc...

After a nice chrome induction kit...

    One of these:

And to get nice fresh cold air into the cone... a Renault 19 Turbo vent professionally pressed into the bonnet for direct to cone induction... here's a pic:

I love the look of it - it wouldnt be on a GSi bonnet, but a standard bonnet

personally i quite like the vent idea, shame its not a custom vent tho, bein off a renault 19 makes it a common mod in some ways...

u cud do something like what i had done, just a custom cut in vent welded up on the sides and smoothed in.

my induction kit needs a bit more adjusting yet tho

Phase 1 Renault 19 16v vent is the nicer one to go for Olly.

I popped round to see Evil and he had one of those filters there. They do look pretty impressive. Guess that's who ya buying it from.

my mate at RKG (bodyshop) did it to my bonnet and resprayed it for £100. In effect anywhere shud be able to do it, simply cut 3 sides out (choose the size of the vent), press the flap into the bonnet (choose the depth) and then weld plates into the side of the vent and smooth it all in

i think if u had the reno one put in but smoothed on its sides so it was all blended as one, that it wud look fully mental!!

correct me if im wrong, but surely the physics of the vent mean that when at speed you are actually sucking hot air out through the vent rather than pushing cold air in through it.

Care to elaborate on that theory?

BTW I prefer the bodyshop option (cut and welded), rather than the "bolt on" mod. But that's just my opinion.

only to add it depends on the shape of the vent, bit on the slow side today, the pictured ones would obviously flow air in.

dont know what i was thinkin.

the cut in one looks better.

Simon, I like the look of the second pic...

but then again, I like the look of cutting in even more...

GTE vent would look better, just put it in your gsi bonnet, evo 6's have 1 GTE style vent for an induction kit i believe, looks smart

GTE vents are so much nicer than GSi ones. Was thinking about getting them blended into my one actually. But stayed with the smooth look.

    I say go for that.

Standard bonnet, GTE either sides. Would look stupid with odd vents.

    Deffo not the 3rd option.
U thought bout a reversed GTE one for functionality? Would be a bit like the one in the custom pic but not so deep. Just an idea ive seen done b4.

this wouldn't be the bonnet i'm buying off you would it?

ps - GTE vents suck air out so i don't reckon theyd be a good idea over an induction kit.
    Well slap my trumpet shifter!

I have mine flowing the better way, in through the bumper and out through the bonnet.
It gives a lot better cooling to not only the filter but to the whole engine temps.
Have you not considred this way or did you not fancy going over the top with vents in the bumper and the bonnet.

Not keen on 'modding' my bumper in anyway - can't go through the 'mouth' in the bumper either as FMIC will be there...

We'll see - but for now, my cold air feed is taken from a gap in my splitter

I like that idea Olly so long as it is functional, looks really clean, I would say go for it.
