    You need vectra backing plates.
You need to swap the lock barrel inserts from the Cav to the Vectra, in the same order.
You may also need to adjust the operating rods a little to make the handles and lock operate smoothly.

I fitted some veccy ones on my mk 3 astra and they fitted straight on!
obviously, a cav might be different!

    Are you delocking too?

If not they fit straight on if you have the backing Vectra plates, if not either front or rear cav backing plates fit but cant remember what ones

As you are keeping the lock you need to use the Vectra backing plate with the lock in it.

Get both barrels out and swap over the brass sliders but MAKE SURE they go back into the vectra barrel as they came out of the cav barrel.

The Cav backing plate holes are a different pitch so you can't mix em up.

You need to use the Vectra back plate for the lock.

You'll need to fit a rear passenger handle to delock, so you may as well get it complete with backing plate.

The passenger side has no lock.

These are the insrets in a cav barrel

To remove the Cav barrel there's a circlip on the back.

On the Vectra there's a twist on/off sleeve, that has a rivet through it locking it.
You can sometimes pull the rivet with pliers, otherwise drill it out.

The inserts are numbered, so you could write down the order, or just line the 2 barrels up and swap them 1 at a time.

    yeah kept the lock.
on the passenger side just put the handle over the old lock!!
Sticks out slightly but you can really tell!
will get round to removing the barrel soon!

Sorry, not trying to take over the thread,
can i simply remove (if it is simple) the barrel from the passenger door handle as i have remote central locking and now have no use for it?
    is it easy?

If your AStra already has the curved handles (96 on then yes).
If not you'll have to redrill the holes.

To remove the passenger barrel on Standard handles, just replace with a rear handle.
