black pannel on Phase 2 MK3

I have a Phase 1 MK3 and quite fancy adding the black pannel between the lights on the boot al la phase 2, how easy is this to do?

I cant see how it attaches or if I would need to change by boot lock, as the lock looks quite diffrent

im not sure how you would do it from a phase 1 car.

But anyway there are some little pins that stick out that the pannel clips fit on to and then the pannel fits onto them.

i would guess that you need to bond it on some how.

as for the lock yes you would need to change it.

If you buy a phase 2 boot panel and fit it to a phase 1 astra, you'll have to bond that panel to the boot....there are some clips that do the job but am unsure as to how the clips are bonded to the car!?!? You could use super strong double-sided tape!?!?

As for changing the boot lock........... nope, there's no need to change the lock, the panel fits over the handle so that just the key section shows..........!!

i was thinking of just swapping the whole tailgate round if they were the same colour, lol. but yeah didn't think of what steve said

if you get a GSi one, it'll have the nicer spoiler too

I know where there is one that i might be able to get it cheep from if you are interested. But its doesnt have the black pannel on coz thats on my car now! (phase 2 one is nicer than the phase 1 black pannel

)

thanks mate, but i already got the GSi spoiler on mine. My astra's a phase2 anyway so i already got the black panel too

just realised I didn't explain very well. when i said "i was thinking" i meant i was thinking as an idea for the original poster, not for me. D'OH!

what's wrong with my car? just an increasing amount of stupid little things which are gonna get worse if i don't sort them. plus the engine is a bit f*cked and gutless, and the wheels need repairing coz they have flat spots in them. and the paintwork is cr*p too

is it a gsi being broken or just a tailgate for sale?

Its a phase 2 astra that was at a local scrappy. there is not much left after i went there lol!

thats a shame i was looking for a phase 1 tailgate for ages, i have just smoothed out a phase 2 one and it took ages to grind down all the pins! we could have done a straight swap...
