    Question Removing Nova Rear seats???

I bought some black Gsi seats for my nova recently, and started taking the old ones out today

Got them all out exept for the back part of the rear seats. Looks to me like theres no way its coming out!

Has anyone removed nova rear seats before? How the ***k is it done?

    Cheers

I replaced my old merit interior with a GSi one - looked lovely.

If i remember correctly, there are some black plastic bits that come out too. just slide it up. this really isnt any help is it! If i was there I'd be able to do it! lmao

One thing I will say though - if you haven't got split fold rear seats you'll need to get hold of a mounting bracket from a car that does cos it the seats are not secure you'll fail your MOT.

I know that was no help but it is easy to do - just a matter of playing around with it.

If you've got split folding rear seats, then the back seat is fixed at the three pivot points.

You can undo the single philips/posi head screw at the centre pivot point with the back in it's normal position and the rear bench removed/lifted. This will then allow the black metal clamp to rotate slightly and then lift clear, under this is a two part plastic bush. Sometimes it falls apart, sometimes it stays clipped together. Don't lose this otherwise there will be slop in the pivot when you refit the other seats.

The two side pivots are held in place in similar fashion. You may have to mess around moving the carpet but you should be able to see another screw at each side once you lower the seat back slightly (Drop it all the way down and work from the boot, it's easier). When you undo the screws the retaining plates should just lift clear. Once the plates have been removed the sections of the seat back should lift clear of the guides (you can see them attached to the rear inner arches) and they can then be removed from the car.

Then, in true Haynes style, refitting is the reverse of removal

If you've got a one piece rear seat I'll assume the side pivots will be the same, but as per the previous reply, you'll need to source a centre pivot from a split folder to get it through the MOT (unless you know a sympathetic MOT Tester, but I wouldn't recommend it as the contents of your boot will be quite keen to join you in the front in the event of a crash!).
