Decent rolling roads in the area

Right then, my astra is under fueling during boost which explains why it's popping and banging and both sounds like **** and drives like ****. Now i have another AFM which i'm going to put on when i get the chance (IE it's daylight, i'm awake, and i'm not at work), but knowing my luck this won't so help i'll need to get the car on a rolling road.

So, any rolling roads in the area that are decent and don't charge the earth? Anyone have any recommendations? The astra is still driveable as it is so it's not like i need to go to the closest one around but then again i don't fancy driving for 5 1/2hrs to get to courtney sport lmao Gonna be triple figures in petrol costs alone!

Interpro in Bristol are the only place I know off, doesnt mean they are any good though!

Chip would be your best person to advice on a good one locally.

What do you need a rolling road for? Are you asking about a remap? (which it shoudlnt need if you get everything working properly)

How do you know its running lean?

Power station in cheltenham & there are a few places in Devon (Tipton?) not forgetting TSR in Bridgwater. But listen to Chip, he knows best. Maybe throw him some beer money & get him to put his wideband on it.

Knowing ZLET's, it's more likely to be another fault than a phantom drop in fuel pressure. Most of the ancillaries on the engine are Fisher Price quality.

If you want to pop over to taunton at the weekend, I can stick the wideband on it no bother, so at least you know whats happening, assuming you havent already got access to one? (thats why I was asking how you know its going lean)
Can whack a fuel pressure gauge on it too and see whats happening there, only slight issue might be with fittings, as I dont remember what the Z'LET rail is like off hand, has it got a shrader valve on it like a XE/LET ?

What pressure are you meant to be running for whatever chip/map you have though, as annoyingly my 6 bar gauge broke this weekend so ive only got a 4.5 bar one

I'll keep the places in mind for when i do want a remap but i have a slight update after fitting the new AFM. The cars backfiring has reduced significantly and initially stopped when the new AFM was first fitted.

Problem cured then? Well no as now i have the engine management and traction control light on (which generally means it's a faulty AFM ) Still gotta be cheaper than paying a rolling road just to find out what's wrong in the first place lmao

Cheers for the offers though guys, i'm sure i'll take you up on that at some point chip lmao

A typical rolling road wont be able to diagnose faults unless they have Tech2.

Chip. Would the popping & backfiring not point to overfuelling?

Well 3rd AFM fitted (been a bit lazy about it lmao), brand new and now the TC light is off, engine management light is still on, and when driving it keeps going in to limp mode

    Sigh

Coilpacks clipped down properly? Another weak/poorly designed part IMO.

Not sure, will check when i get home. I would have hoped 2 different mechanics/garages would have spotted something that simple though lmao No guaranty though

Re: Decent rolling roads in the area

Just to update i've got the original CAT back on and no more popping and banging and it's smooth on boost.

Perhaps it's just a little bit to loud where there's a huge hole in the flexi-joint so not the best solution lol. My ears hurt after driving for a few mins.

So i'm looking at a sports CAT or a remap, and it seems there's no where local to get a remap lol. Might just get the sports CAT as it'll be less hassle in the long run (MOT's and stuff)
