Anyone up for a Cheddar Gorge meet?

    in mid May?

Lots of clubs meet up there during the year. Its a great road, ans scenery for a meet, cars sound great going up there between the huge cliffs and we got 17 cars there to a MK2 Astra club meet in 2005 as its in a location to draw South Westerners, Westerners and South Centrallers.

Its about 30 mins/25 miles extra to drive heading north from Taunton meet location BTW.

Only problem could be getting a car park to ourselves.

Its just a thought, but it has the potential to be a really good meet if we involve other reigons/clubs too.

    Thoughts guys?

i would be up for that, good chance to introduce myself to all you unsuspecting people and it will be a good excuse to rag urm i mean drive carefuly round some proper winedy but quick roads
Corsa drivers. Attach a lighted sparkler to the roof of your car before starting a long journey. You drive the things like dodgems anyway, so It may as well look like one.

The best roads I know for miles are all up through the gorge between Cheddar and Bath. Practically what Im building the astra forlmao

Jason - yeah there are loads of carparks mate. Just they fill up during the day, maybe not may might be too early though I will have a look and see what its like in a few weeks.

$windy - be good to meet you! Dont think we have any Mk4 Astras in our area right now.

    anyone else up for it?

The roads between cheddar and bath or the A38 and bath are a nightmare to drive, not easy corners and can't get any real speed up at all at any point. All changing between 2nd and 3rd the whole time.

I'd be up for it cause it's about 5 mins from my house, although summer's approaching so any chance to go for a blast up the gorge or park in the middle of the gorge is soon to be missed as the tourists will soon be driving at 5mph round the whole of cheddar, and 3mph in the gorge area

Route I take is always up over the hills through the gorge. There's a straight up there where its possible to see 120mph in a GTE 16v (apparently, so I'm told ) Overall speed isn't the main concern, that's what gets you points and there are always deer to consider. Going up the gorge is one of the best challenges you'll find around here, keeping up a decent speed changing between 2nd/3rd when you are on the limit, back end dancing around and left foot braking, using both sides of the road in the dark, its narrow so it increases the impression of speed, and theres the knowledge in the back of your head it could bite you anytime. IMHO that road when its quiet is absolutely brilliant.

yeah Ive mentioned it on Astra-Mk2.com and have between 7-9 people interested there.

If we open this up to a few more clubs it should be good. I'll PM the Smudge and Prisky too.
