Can anyone help? (Astra Champion Recaro Seats)

I'm not really sure where to post this so mods please feel free to move if necessary...

Over the weekend our Astra GTE 16v Champion was broken into and the recaro leather seats stolen (Wokingham area). The police believe that it was a professional job as only the seats were taken and because there were only about 400 of the Champion models made, it does seem likely that they were stolen to order.

The car has great sentimental value to both my husband and myself (it was our wedding present to each other!) and we would dearly love to get the seats back so we can finish refurbishing it. If anyone has any infomration regarding the possible whereabouts of the seats can I please ask you to get in contact with me. We are offering a reward for their safe return.

This needs moving to the car talk forum really. I'll keep an eye out for auctions or 'for sale' threads for Champ Recaros, as you said there aren't that many and people notice when they go up for sale.

Is there anything distinctive about them, i.e. tears anywhere that would help identify yours?

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately the seats were in good condition - I can't think of any tears or worn patches but will check with my husband. On a brighter note, the Forensic investigators have just finished looking over it and have managed to get a couple of prints off the car (hopefully they don't turn out to be the kids!)

Hi, thanks for your message. The seats were taken whilst the car was parked in the Woosehill area of Wokingham between 8-10 June. Apparently there have been several thefts in the area where only the seats have been taken.

It's a shame as my husband and I were hoping to restore it to its former glory now it looks like its going to be crushed...

Don't crush it! If it's the real thing, there are people that will snap your arm off for it ie half the users of www.astra-mk2.com

Hi, yes this is the 'real thing' we've owned it from new, got the full service history, original documentation, receipts etc and it has about 110k on the clock. At the moment my husband is talking about crushing it, probably because he's so p'd off that the seats have been stolen - at the end of the day it's his choice but I will mention that there may still be some resale value.

If its in reasonably good condition (i.e. not rotten) you could be looking at £1000+ for it even without the seats.

I've seen good Champions go for over £2k in the past year ....

What a shame about the seats.I have just been to Germany to collect a full interior for my car. They seem to have had more Astra's with the leather Recaro interior.Bit extreme really but it is an option for you if you dont get yours back.Dont break the car as its a rare thing and especially as you are the only owners
