S - Dear Garth, Remember me? We met at the press screening of John Carpenter's Vampires. Do you watch horror films often, or was it just fate? From Sally

GM - Heh, heh, heh, I love you too. I certainly remember making your acquaintance, Sally. Cheers for the pendant. I've put it with the others. I like to keep abreast of what's going on in the genre. Mind you, I really think Carpenter went west on that one. Don't lose that haunting smile. Garth.

Dear Garth, Beyond the Valley of the Screams… care to expand on the why? From the Wishmaster.

    GM

Not keen on your tone, Anthony, but here's an answer nonetheless. Beyond the Valley of the Screams is written for and about the fallen of Beachy Head. I once knew a guy who knew someone who'd seen someone jump off the edge. This is that person's story. He swears he saw a bony hand help said fellow to perdition. All I'm asking is this: do these people jump, or does society push? The bony hand is a metaphor for indifference. I strongly advise you re-read the text. And this time, open your mind.

    Garth.

    F*cking Ace lmao

Loved the review of "Dead Centre":

    "Dead Centre

Quote: 'Oh Christ. It's me bleedin' face…'

This near-legendary collection of short stories includes 'The Streaming Face' (about a boy whose face is turned into a river by a magical elk because he spat on a gnome)......"

    Afterbirth

t's the year 2050 and everyone can choose the perfect baby. Blue eyes, blond hair, and calcium-rich blood. Everyone, that is, who can pay. (Many people can't pay). The West Country's most beautiful woman, Silvie Mink, is certain her newborn will be as drop dead gorgeous as her. But when her baby drops dead, knifed by her own placenta, she knows her DNA modification program has gone too far.

Possessed of a fearsome intelligence and hatred of good bone structure, the mutated placenta escapes the hospital, rounds up of a group of ugly, bummed-off 'assymetricals' and, together, they attack the Beautiful People of Bristol.

A staggering indictment of what Garth terms 'lookism'.

    TAGLINE: After birth, comes Afterbirth

'Bristol's fashion scene (run by the wonderfully camp Big Reg) is tenderly and humouressly sketched by Marenghi's wry eye' SFX

'I can't believe this book' The Times

'Quite simply, his nastiest work to date' Locus

    PMSL!!!! It's great stuff

Just to get back onto the subject of the thread again quickly (awaits swift kicks from the Garth Marenghi fans lmao ), which part of South Mimms are we meeting in? The BP station or the carpark for the main services (food shops etc)?
