Me and Dale also live near Andover, I also think more people would come from the rest of the region if it was more in the middle, and not so far down south.
It's ok for you guys, because you've only got a 15min drive, it's over 45mins for me, and even more if you want to come from swindon, Chippenham.

Donk's got a point we've not checked around Salisbury, however a lot of pubs are now gastro pubs that are busy but its worth checking out.
