Are we likely to see a parking attendant on a sunday afternoon, and if we do are we actually breaking any rules?

Its private property isn't it.
Knowing some places they will happily slap you with a fine & kick you off their land, any day of the week. Failing that call the police.
Next time im driving that way ill see if parking charges apply on Sundays.

Un momento, you are way over analysing this, stop talking fines and police for christs sake, we are patrons:-
several cars, just so happen to be all mates coming from somewhere, going on somewhere, assemble at a pre determined place they encourage cars and people to meet/assemble at, having a break, using the facilities, having a drink or two, have a chat and drive off.
simples.
Hundreds of very large car clubs/scout troops/old folks homes/window licker excursions/trekkie conventions/stamp collectors/boat delivery lorries in convoy/covens of witches on their ritual pilgrimages etc etc etc do exactly this every day or at the weekend, even taking over most of the seats (in their hoards) inside the service station if need be. If there is a maximum parking time signed it wont be a problem to us.
its a great place to get to and a huge empty car park.
discussion need go no further, there is not a problem, well not with the venue there aint, clearly it needs to be 20 yrds from where some people live to satisfy everybody.
I did suggest the services up the A34 above Winchester as an alternative, we could try that in the spring, see who moans like an old woman then.
Its the worst case scenario.
Not saying it will happen however they're well within their rights to fine us & ask us to leave.
They do have a couple payment meters on the sides of the carpark, so its parking controlled. But fortunately its not camera controlled!
I LIKE the Rownahams service station, its quiet and out the way. (apart from being right next to the motorway lmao) im just saying because its private property and they charge for parking & were not paying to park there.
So long as the parking wardens keep their beaks out then were quids in really.

I see where you are coming from but in the 5 years I have ben going to MIG SC meets i can only remembering leaving the cars unnatended once, and that was because it absolutly honked it down with rain.
I really can't see this being a problem.
parking meters are for overnite numpties that tow their tatty mobile chicane of a house along behind em pretending to be pikeys and snarling up the roads, or delivery lorry doods over hours that have park up for ages with a hooj boat, they aint for quick in and out peeps like us.
Fair enough.

well yes Tintin, less moaning, more car discussions, as we're a car forum where the cars do the talking. 75% of the carp on here is bollox, nowt to do with real cars.
as for quality and pricing of drinks snacks and condition of toilets wherever we go, wtf? this aint Masterchef, we aint grading the gaff people.
bring a drink or snack with you if you cant afford one in a pub or a service station.

Inthe week it has a parking charge of a pound an hour, i have been in there loads of time and have never paid for a ticket, or seen anyone else.
On a sunday afternoon i cant see any one will approach us unless people start dicking about. If people did they'd be asked to leave by us, before anyone else.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
First 2 hours are free, then changers apply.
The only thing I will say is I feel it has lost a little of the old atmosphere we had at the pub. It felt a little more intimate, not to make it sound like a date,
I do get a little put off by the motorway on-lookers.

Just as a note regarding Sutton Scotney services, each side has access roads to the local roads which means you can go from one side to the other to turn around.
Likewise you could use the local roads up from South Wonston to Sutton Scotney to get to and from the services if you wanted.
I have not seen this closed in the times I have been using these services.
